Thinking about Photography
For most of my work a tripod is an absolute necessity. To further stabilize the image, I will often use
the camera self-timer. Mirror lock-up is also valuable, especially for macro work.
At one time I owned a Minolta SLR, but switched immediately to a Nikon. I've used Nikon
almost exclusively since then, except for a brief period with a Sony DCS 5 megapixel digital camera.
I'm not a purist. To me, post-processing such as with Adobe Photoshop is an integral part of the art.
Is photography art? Absolutely. All visual arts are essentially acts of selective vision. It may take
longer to render that vision by sculpture or painting than by photography. But time spent does not equal creativity.
